A heartwarming story about a family that celebrates both Christmas and Chanukah on the same day. The family of Max and Sophie comes together and makes latkes, applesauce, pudding, turkey, and many other treats that are served on both holidays. They light the Chanukah candles and the Christmas tree, sing songs from both holidays. Then, they settle down as different grandparents describe the stories of Chanukah and Christmas to Max and Sophie who are eagerly listening. Then comes everyone’s favorite part which is dessert! While everyone is spinning the dreidel, Mama passes around gingerbread dreidels. A wonderful book that blends both holidays and their traditions together. At the end of the book, there is a history of the dreidel, instructions on how to play Spin the Dreidel, and a recipe on making gingerbread dreidels. A wonderful read since it blends and teaches about both holidays, including many more young readers in the process. Makes a great gift, too!
