Jan Adkins has written and illustrated many books for children, including What If You Met a Cowboy?; The Art and Industry of Sandcastles (Walker and Co.); What If You Met a Pirate? (Roaring Brook); and Line: Tying It Up, Tying It Down (Wooden Boat Publications). He grew up in West Virginia and Ohio, spent many years in California, and currently lives in Gainesville, FL.
