Freda loves playing pretend – especially pretending she is the teacher while her friends and stuffed animals are her students. However, when her friends Percy and Emma join her the play changes. When Freda doesn’t use polite words like please, thank you and you’re welcome, her friends are reluctant to be bossed around. ||In the end, Freda realizes it’s more fun to be polite and get to play with everyone. At the end of the book, parents have a guide to explain the appropriate use of words like please, thank you and you’re welcome. There is also a short list of discussion questions for parents and children to identify why manners are so important.
Freda Says Please is a social skills book in Stuart J. Murphy’s “I See I Learn” series. The book’s short length, simple subject matter and verbiage make it appropriate for children between the ages of two and five.
