Buzz around with Lola as she encounters bees in this sweet and informative picture book. Lola, a curious young girl with brown skin and dark brown hair in puffs, is excited to visit her mom's friend Zora's house to learn about bees! Zora has beehives that she maintains on the roof of her building in the city. Lola learns that bees spread pollen and search for nectar in flowers. Then the bees come back to the hexagon shaped beehives and make honey! All of the bees have different jobs in the hives. Lola wears a special suit to keep her body safe from the bees just like Zora's suit. Lola learns about a bee smoker, the brood box, the queen bee, and where extra honey is stored. Lola tries out some delicious honey and Zora gives Lola some seeds to plant her own pollinator garden to attract bees! This book is part of a series of books that follow Lola through her experiences in her community. The illustrations are detailed and engaging for young children. This is a great book to read within the Lola series or as a stand alone for a lesson about bees!
